Classroom Wildlife Education
The Alberta Professional Outfitters Society (APOS) offers a free wildlife classroom education package, Exploring Alberta’s Wildlife, to Kindergarten to grade 6 teachers throughout the province. The package aligns with the Alberta Education Curriculum Goals, and explores wildlife identification, and the role sustainable use plays in conservation. Included in the packages are easy-to-follow lesson plans, pictures with descriptions of Alberta wildlife, cast paw prints, skulls, and scat to use in hands-on lessons. Our Grant Programs Coordinator, Tara Golby, a former elementary school teacher with 20+ years of teaching experience, is available to come to your classroom at no charge. To request a classroom kit, please complete this request form to sign out an APOS Classroom Wildlife Education Package.
If you are interested in grades 5 or 6, please complete email info@apos.ab.ca as these packages are currently being developed and we can put you on a waiting list.
