Becoming an Outfitter

As a professional outfitter, you are legally able to provide guided hunting experiences to guests who come to Alberta from other provinces or jurisdictions. With a diverse assortment of highly desirable species and beautiful terrain, Alberta is a top destination for international travelers. In order to become an outfitter, you will need to obtain an outfitter permit from the Alberta Professional Outfitters Society (APOS).

Code of Ethics

Members of the Alberta Professional Outfitters Society (APOS) ascribe to a high standard of professional conduct and ethics. When interactions and behaviours don’t meet this standard, the reputation of individual APOS members and the industry as a whole can be harmed. All violations of the APOS Code of Ethics may be subject to a penalty ranging from a reprimand to suspension.

Classifieds

Classified listings are posted monthly with a selection of big game allocations, waterfowl privileges, lodges, equipment etc. that can be bought or leased. You need to be an outfitter in order to lease or purchase big game allocations or waterfowl privileges. Additional listings may include businesses for sale, employment opportunities, services, and wanted ads. Classified listings are free to APOS members. Non-members may contact the office for a rate sheet.
